Obon is the time when the Japanese honor their ancestors. Obon is celebrated in Hagi with a special lantern festival held at Daishōin and Tōkōji, the two family temples of the Mōri Clan.
The flames inside over 500 stone lanterns ignite the evening with a magical and spiritual atmosphere.
